Noise Details

The noise details screen shows the sound spectrum for the fan at the selected duty point.

Sound pressure levels are calculated for the distance specified (default is 1.0 metre).

Note that Centrix will perform a Near Field calculation if the specified distance falls within the near field range.

A free field hemispherical radiation calculation is performed when outside the near field range.

Note the following :

Casing breakout levels can be reduced by using a tight fitting seal around the shaft where it passes through the casing. The Centrix default is to have a radial clearance gap of around 1mm around the shaft. Such a gap allows noise to escape but this is still usually less than the open inlet or outlet noise.

When inlet vanes are used there can be a substantial increase in noise level when the vanes are partially open. You can check the worst vane setting box to allow for this influence.

You can also apply various thicknesses of lagging (or cladding) to the casing to reduce break out noise further.

Silencers can be selected by clicking the Silencer button for the fan inlet or outlet.
